Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the category of child prodigy. For a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were normal. Maureen entered this loving haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was the mother of her. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the second FitzSimons kid. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a great athlete and participated in rough, competitive games as a child. Her talent for performing was the perfect match for her love of athletics. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could offer. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she continued to pursue her dream of opera and classical singing and theater.
