Her mother, a Filipina is her maternal grandmother. Her father is Irish and Scottish. Mitchell is her cousin to Lea Salonga famous musical theater actress and singer. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary, before switching to West Vancouver Secondary. The actress had already been modeling across the world in her early teens. She traveled through Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before eventually returning to her home country and studying modeling in Toronto.
